Air Rifles
Air-Rifle Pellet Gun Which is better, PCP, spring-powered or gas-powered?
PCP, spring-powered and gas-powered air rifles all have their own advantages and disadvantages.
PCP Air Rifles are recoiless, most have mulitshot magazines and are in most cases very accuarte but initial cost can be more expensive due to requiring charging facilities. Spring-powered air rifles are generally less expensive and easier to maintain since they don't require CO2 cartridges or other gas refills. PCP and Co2 Powered ar Rifles are also generally quieter than Spring Powered air rifles. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your specific needs, preferences, and budget. Air Rifles & Air Pistols
Due to the current gun laws in the UK and changes made in the VCRA act we cannot post air weapons direct to your door you can come to our shop and by face to face we can sell you airguns. The law was amended to restrict and control the sales of air weapons due to minors ordering and misusing. So we can sell but you must come to our shop at Unit 1, Magnus, Tame Valley Business Centre, Wilnecote, Tamworth, B77 5BY. However we can send air weapons to your local Gun Shop (RFD) the other gun shop will charge you for doing this but it may still work out cheaper especially if travelling quite far to our shop at B77 5BY. Also we cannot mail order air rifle silencers these are affected by the VCRA act again same scenario we can send to another RFD or face to face sale only.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT AIR RIFLES
Yes. Every air rifle we list is fully compliant with UK law, which caps legal power at 12 ft-lb (approximately 16.3 Joules). Any rifle exceeding this limit is classified as a firearm that requires a Firearms Certificate (FAC). Our carefully chosen range of air rifles for sale includes spring-piston, pre-charged pneumatic (PCP), and gas-ram models, all within legal limits. We ensure customers can buy confidently, with full clarity on legal restrictions. Our team provides guidance on licence requirements, safe and responsible ownership, and how to select the right rifle for shooting sports, pest control, or target practice—always with legality and safety as our top priorities.
When selecting an air rifle, consider calibre (.177 vs .22), power type (spring vs PCP), accuracy, weight, and intended use—such as target shooting, hunting, or casual plinking. The .177 calibre is ideal for precision due to its flatter trajectory, while the .22 delivers more impact for pest control. Spring-piston rifles are durable and low-maintenance, whereas PCP rifles offer quieter, repeatable shooting but may require additional gear like a pump or scuba tank. Choosing the right rifle means balancing performance with your needs. At Solware, our expert team helps you evaluate all these factors so you end up with an air rifle that suits your style and remains reliable over time.
Yes—but with legal safeguards in place. In the UK, air rifles for sale can be ordered online through Solware, but final collection must occur in person. This typically means picking up via a registered firearms dealer (RFD) or at our store. This ensures compliance with UK legislation while keeping the process secure and transparent. We make the procedure clear during the checkout, handling all paperwork and communication with RFDs. Whether you're ordering a high-precision PCP rifle or a beginner spring rifle, this system ensures responsible and legal distribution. Solware ensures your purchase journey is smooth, compliant, and hassle-free from click to collection.
The choice of calibre depends on your goals: for target practice and competition, .177 calibre is excellent thanks to its accuracy and low pellet cost. If you're targeting pests, rodents, or small birds, .22 calibre provides greater kinetic energy and stopping power. At Solware, our collection of air rifles for sale includes both calibres so you can compare side by side. We help you evaluate your shooting distance, desired pellet speed, and noise considerations to make the most effective, legally compliant choice. Whether you need range precision or field power, our team will guide you to the right rifle.
Most air rifles you buy from Solware come sighted and ready to shoot—but tuning can significantly enhance precision. Factors like scope alignment, pellet selection, and barrel cleaning can affect accuracy. More advanced models, especially PCP rifles, may benefit from performance upgrades like custom springs or regulators. Our team provides expert advice on fine-tuning based on your rifle type and shooting preference. We also stock high-quality pellets, barrel care kits, and tuning components. New shooters can rely on a reliable, accurate rifle straight away, while enthusiasts looking for optimal performance can explore upgrade paths with confidence.
Solware offers an extensive range of accessories and support services to keep your air rifle performing well. We stock pellets in bulk, telescopic and red-dot scopes, mounts, cleaning kits, regulators, and spare parts—but we also offer expert aftercare advice. Whether it's maintaining PCP seals, adjusting scope zero, or diagnosing accuracy issues, our experienced team helps you maintain your rifle's performance. We're committed to post-sale support, ensuring your air rifle continues to deliver accuracy, power, and longevity. With Solware, buying an air rifle is just the start—our support ensures you get the most from your purchase for years to come.
PCP, spring-piston and gas ram air rifles all work differently and suit different types of shooters. PCP air rifles use compressed air stored in a cylinder and are popular for their smooth firing cycle, accuracy and low recoil. Spring-powered air rifles use a mechanical spring and are simple, reliable and ideal for shooters who want a self-contained rifle without additional charging equipment. Gas ram air rifles operate in a similar way to spring rifles but use a gas-filled ram instead of a traditional spring, often providing a smoother shot and reduced vibration. At Solware, we stock a wide range of air rifles across all three systems and can help you choose the best option based on your experience, budget and intended use.
The best air rifle for target shooting depends on your experience level, preferred shooting distance and budget. Many target shooters favour PCP air rifles because they offer low recoil, consistent power and excellent accuracy, making them particularly suitable for repeated precision shooting. Spring-powered rifles can also be an excellent choice for beginners and recreational target shooting, especially if you want a straightforward rifle without the need for charging equipment. Calibre, stock design, trigger quality and scope choice can all influence how comfortable and accurate a rifle feels. Solware stocks air rifles suitable for everything from informal garden target practice to more advanced shooting disciplines, along with scopes, pellets, targets and accessories to complete your setup.
For legal pest control, the right air rifle should provide dependable accuracy, suitable power and a setup matched to the quarry and shooting distance involved. Many experienced shooters choose PCP air rifles because their low recoil and consistent shot-to-shot performance can make accurate shot placement easier. Both .177 and .22 calibres are widely used, although pellet choice, rifle performance and shooter ability are just as important as calibre alone. Pest control must always be carried out safely, humanely and on land where you have permission to shoot. Solware offers a broad range of air rifles, scopes, pellets and shooting accessories and can help customers choose a suitable combination for their intended use while staying within current UK airgun legislation.
A few carefully chosen air rifle accessories can make your new rifle safer, easier to use and more enjoyable to shoot. Depending on your setup, you may want a suitable rifle scope and mounts, quality pellets, targets, a gun slip or case and cleaning products. PCP air rifle owners will also need a suitable charging method, such as a filling cylinder or compatible pump, while some shooters may choose a bipod, moderator or shooting rest where appropriate. It is important to choose accessories that are compatible with your specific rifle rather than simply buying universal products. Solware stocks a wide selection of airgun accessories from established manufacturers and can help you put together a complete setup for target shooting, recreational use or pest control.
